UBS Investment Research’s latest monthly business jet market report, released yesterday, shows that business condition indicators have stabilized and in some cases are moving higher. Its November business jet market index came in at 45, some 5 percent higher than UBS’s prior survey and the seventh straight move higher.

The Transportation Department imposed its first penalties for runway delays Tuesday, collecting $175,000 from three airlines for leaving 47 passengers of a regional jet stranded overnight in Rochester, Minn.

(CNN) -- The Federal Aviation Administration on Wednesday proposed fines against two of the nation's largest airlines, saying the airlines flew planes on hundreds of occasions in violation of FAA or airline safety standards.

Struggling US Airways said on Wednesday it will cut some 1,000 jobs next year, shift nearly all of its flying to its three hubs and Washington, and suspend several international routes.
It's a major retrenchment, and Chairman and CEO Doug Parker said he hopes it gets the airline making money again.
